Decent parking space
Well I told myself I wasn’t going back to this place, after the last Food Match episode we did here. The waiters treated us like shit (probably because I wasn’t white or Lebanese). And it’s not even a one time thing, a lot of people have complained about their waiters and waiting service. I don’t know why a black man would treat another black man any less but we gave them another chance.
Wimpy is a Lebanese place with very simple dining setting. The most fancy structure in the restaurant would probably be the projected massive screen. But hey, I’m not necessarily saying the simplicity is bad. It works for them. I like how their “not so bright” lighting blends with the orange and brown colors.
The menu isn’t limited to Lebanese cuisines, to be honest there are more Chinese options and sandwiches than they are Lebanese.
This time we got a nicer waiter. He tried frantically to take us through the Lebanese options, of which he confessed he didn’t know much about most of the Lebanese aspect of the menu. He’s obviously new here (probably that’s why he’s nice).
After much deliberating, we finally settled for the falafel (for starters), shish taouk and kafta.
The falafel are basically deep fried balls made from ground chickpeas. They have this moist sand like texture to it with a very plain taste. I honestly don’t know what a falafel is suppose to taste like but this was an insipid starter.
The shish taouk was looking like it had better prospects. It’s a plate of marinated chicken shish kebab served with either fries or vegetable rice. The kebab wasn’t bland this time. It’s soft and fleshy with very obvious roasted edges. I liked the vegetable rice that came with it. It had a lot of green and orange drama going on.
The kafta is another kebab, mashed into some sort of long meatballs. It had a bit more spice than the taouk but both kebabs felt really dry. It's also a really boring dish, forget all that fancy Lebanese name, it's basically minced meat and chips with no dipping sauce. I don't think this is price worthy at all.

Wimpy is a fairly decent place for almost any gathering. It’s kind of spacious so you can have like dinners or meetings here. The waiting service is still so bias against the black man, they grudgingly attend to you but you see them fawning at the expats. I honestly don’t like the place. Still, It’s nice to have a Lebanese option in Ibadan.
