First post ever! After much self battle and a lot of procrastination, I finally decided to start the blog. I've always wanted to do this. I'd be basically doing reviews, culinary lessons and any other type of food talk. This very post I checked out Cafe chrysalis. Chrysalis has been known in “Ib” as one of the nicest place around. There seem to be much noise about chrysalis even though they don't bother with advertisement, sign posts or any form of public awareness. Is this a strategy?
Finding the place can be a bit difficult if you haven’t been here before. After a few “back and forth” I finally found chrysalis’ rustic looking compound. The ambience here is very calm and homey. It seems like a house that was converted into a restaurant, all the same it seems like every strategy works well for them.
I settled in and was quickly approached by the waitresses. The restaurant is well spaced with different dining arrangements to accommodate almost all type of gathering, whether single, dates, family or even buffet. It’s a well arranged space with a rustic ambience and very minimal sophistication.
The menu isn’t so varied but has enough options to do the job. Ibadan is a simple place with simple people, people here probably just want rice or something with fries, I wouldn’t expect anything more from their menu. The menu has breakfast options, pan-Asian dishes, sandwiches, Nigerian dishes and cocktails.
I settled for the mashed potatoes and pork steak. The pork was great and easy to cut through. I could still feel the roast going on at the edges. Heavy and succulent enough, I ate like a cave man.
The mashed potatoes was nice too and very filling. Their gravy was top notch today, it added super flavor to the pork.
I tried a glass of Paradise, orange juice with grenadine syrup and ice. I thought it was Chivita frankly! But it had ice, I didn't taste the sweetness of the grenadine syrup even though I saw it's red! It was cold, I never say no to a cold beverage!
