Ibadan Chinese restaurant (Ibachi)
One Theophilus Akinyele way, New Bodija Ibadan.
Enough space for parking.
Kabachi permanently closed up at their Ventura mall space last year. They did some rebranding and opened up at another place. I feel it’s a “growth” because the place is a lot bigger, and more attractive. It still maintains most of their basic designs, low lights, Chinese designs and all that. I’m not sure why they dropped the name “Kabachi” though.
Ibachi is located in a four storey building with the restaurant using the down floor and the first floor. As always there are a lot of Chinese printing and designs but it’s not off putting in anyway. I think it’s really nice to be honest. The low hanging lights blend so well with the color tone of the place. It’s a really calm feel.
Dining setting is so simple and yet still looks sophisticated. Everything aesthetically just seem to work out here.
The customer service is top notch. So much greetings and proper addresses, even mid-meal, I love it.
Their menu is supposedly a Chinese based menu but it’s didn’t look so varied. It didn’t look like a standard Chinese menu to me, Just as if the chef just experimented with a couple sauces and noodles. Maybe I was expecting a “Golden Dragon” type of menu (Golden Dragon is another Chinese restaurant in Ibadan, a bit like the SI unit for measuring up Chinese restaurant in Ibadan). There was still some exciting options though.
Settled for the stautéed chicken in black bean sauce served with steamed rice and Beef chow mein. The black bean sauce was okay, it had a lot going on with chicken strips, carrot and pepper. I like how the sauce was thick. I like thick. The chow mein was good too. Chow mein is basically Stir-fried noodles. It’s hard to go wrong with chow mein. It’s one of my safe meals when trying a Chinese place. The chow mein was a bit dry but I think that was Intended. It was really good. There was a particular spice/seasoning in it I couldn’t figure out. Great eat out

I like the rebranding that happened cause that means a better and bigger space. Kabachi was good already, but somehow they made Ibachi better. Plus I can eat without the disturbing noise from a the previous near by club and not being scared of any drunk harassing me. The space is big enough for any crowd. I recommend this for a cute date also. The menu isn’t so Chinese in my opinion it’s very limited to a few things. Great place still
