Ikeja City Mall, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.
Krispy Kreme officially opened in Lagos on the 10th of march this year. They had an elaborate marketing, which seem to have paid off at their grand opening. With the amount of free doughnuts they dropped around offices and stalls in Lagos, I wasn’t so surprised with the overnight queues that met the opening. They also had gifts, vouchers and free doughnuts, even up to a year for some lucky customers. It was a pretty thought out opening.
But with all these hype and viral wave of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts on Lagosians’ Snapchat/instagram stories, is it really all that ?
Stopped by to check the place out.
It’s located right at the forefront of the mall. I think it’s an exciting location. The customer service, right from the security post to the counter, was top notch. The space is well thought out, with dining setting being flexible enough for any kind of crowd, whether it’s a large gathering or you’re just keeping it "Hans" style (Star Wars reference, lol)
They had a lot of options. You can opt for a single doughnut or go for a box of 6 or 12.
Some of their signature doughnuts include; Triple Chocolate, Red Velvet, Chocolate Iced Glazed, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Vanilla Cake, Boston Kreme, Caramel Kreme Crunch, Powdered Strawberry, White Chocolate Drizzle, brownie, Chocolate iced and original glazed.
They had shakes, coffee and soft drinks too. I picked some random 12 and honestly didn’t like it so much. The only one I detest the least was the original glazed. I feel detest is a strong word, maybe the one “I like the most” ? Though I’m not really a sweet toothed person but I think it’s too much sophistication for just doughnuts.
My random 12
Classic box of 12 : N4200
It’s a really exciting place. You could do almost any kind of meeting here. And their box is so cute, would work well for cute “spontaneous gifting”. This review might seem bias due to my personal vendetta against sweet food, but Krispy Kreme wasn't worth the trip.
