- The new eighth-generation 2020 Hyundai Sonata retains the brand’s signature with its impressive new styling.
- Hyundai is making a bold departure from its more conservatively styled predecessor to a more daring deep character lines on the side and the hidden lighting lamps
- The car will make its full debut next month at the New York auto show
The first big change is in the car's silhouette. It's shaped less like a traditional sedan, and more like a cross over between a sport car and a sedan. Upfront it retains the brand’s signature hexagonal grille and a notable DRL design that stretches up into the hood but adds deep character lines on the side.
The trunk is bordered by elegant tail lights connected by a light bar through the lip. Hyundai has introduced hidden lighting lamps, which are disguised as a "chromic material", that extend on the headlights and trace the edges of the hood. When turned off, they look like body chrome. When turned on, they light up.
Inside, the new Sonata features a not so minimalist layout with colorful features like the large center touchscreen, push button, gear selector, and a digital instrument cluster. Also Hyundai’s eight-speed automatic should return as the sole transmission option. Also Hyundai seem to be eliminating the traditional gear levers and opting for the push-button gear selector now.
Nothing is certain about its power train but be rest assured that Hyundai is here to impress once again.
