Apple has been having a month of surprise launches with the release of the new iPad Air (2019), iPad mini (2019), and a brand new iMac (2019), and a post dated March 25 video streaming launch event, which is expected to see the launch of a new Apple streaming service. The AirPods 2 has been the latest of these launches, which is said to include a wireless charging case, a new H1 chip, improved battery life and “Hey, Siri” support to trigger the virtual assistant without pressing a button.
Prior to its launch, there were reports that the second generation AirPods will be a health and fitness device, would come in other colors apart from white, be both waterproof and offer active noise-cancellation. Apple hasn't made any mention confirming any of these features.
Apple has confirmed the new wireless charging case which is reported to work with standard Qi charging (it should work with nearly every wireless charger out there), the H1 chip instead of the previously used W1 chip, support for Bluetooth 5, and the “Hey, Siri” support.
Design is almost identical as the first generation as the AirPods 2 and the case look virtually identical to it, except for a small LED light on the wireless charging case to indicate battery life.
